Colvita: a safe, effective, and superior quality collagen supplement
Naturel Collagen continues to lead the way as North America’s official distributor of Colway products.
We are celebrating this month! Our unmatched collagen supplement, Colvita, has officially received a Natural Product Number (NPN) certification.
As many of you know, Naturel Collagen is headquartered in Canada. In order to be authorized for a NPN, information supporting the safety, quality and effectiveness of a product must be evaluated by Health Canada. The approval process is lengthy and detailed – and involves obtaining a site license that ensures good manufacturing practice (GMP) requirements.
We are thrilled with this accomplishment and firmly stand behind the premium quality and unique formulation of Colvita and will continue to praise its beneficial health merits. Our enthusiasm is also shared with thousands of people around the globe- including elite athletes - who have been helped by this remarkable collagen supplement.

Not all Collagens Are Created Equal
Most collagen dietary supplements found in pharmacies and health food stores labeled "collagen" are nothing more than hydrolyzed hydrolysates – which are heavily processed bovine or pig connective fibres that contain almost no biological activity.
Colvita is the result of a breakthrough in European biotechnology that utilizes freeze-dried, pure fish tropocollagen, algae extract and Vitamin E to slow the aging process. Our clients rave that it is the only biologically active collagen in capsule form that works – and it works so well, that they use it regularly.
"After taking Colvita for only a short period of time (just over 3 months), my joints already feel better than they did 10 years ago. It is as if all the years of training and its impact on my joints have just been erased. I can feel that the cartilage in my joints have started to replenish itself, and there seems to be a cushion in and around them. It is a wonderful feeling … so, needless to say, I will continue using the product in the future."

The Science Behind Colvita
The extra-large collagen molecules in Type I collagen (the most widely occurring collagen in connective tissue) can be problematic for the body to absorb because of its considerable size.
However, Colvita contains a complete “set” of amino acids that make up the collagen helix at the molecular level. The amino acids are therefore more easily broken down by the body. The addition of Vitamin E, as well as minerals and Vitamin C present in algae creates an optimal “cocktail” of ingredients that allow the peptides to pass through the intestinal barrier and into the bloodstream.
The collagen is comprised of native collagen molecules (not hydrolyzed hydrolysates as found in most collagen products), which makes it highly bioavailable. This is a crucial piece of information because its bioavailability makes the collagen far more readily absorbed by the body, and therefore uniquely equipped to rebuild connective tissue. It is also directly absorbed from the intestine.
Colvita is also ultra-intelligent collagen – once absorbed, it makes its way to the areas of the body that need the most repair.
Let’s Break it Down Further….
The fundamental component of Colvita is lyophilized collagen hydrate derived from fish skin. Lyophilization is the technical term for the freeze-drying process. This method guarantees the highest purity of the product.
The collagen in Colvita is close to one hundred percent anabolic, which means that it is not “used up” (e.g., in energy or excreted) and is directly absorbed from the intestine. Therefore, the collagen’s main role is to promote building new cells.
Colvita contains vitamin E isoforms (or protein variants) that are also biologically active, as well. Vitamin E was the first medicine to be given the term elixir of youth in the twentieth century. It is known to stimulate collagen synthesis and improve the skin’s appearance. It is the body’s main antioxidant guard for cell membranes and red blood cells.
Another key ingredient in Colvita is a powder derived from micronization of the algae species – Fucus vesiculosus. These particular algae (or seaweed) are a phenomenon of nature. They possess an extraordinary ability to collect and absorb virtually all trace elements and minerals found in seawater and possess the most valuable nutrients rarely found in nature.
Benefits of Taking Collagen Supplements
Research indicates that collagen supplementation may increase muscle mass, prevent bone loss, relieve joint pain, and improve skin health by reducing wrinkles and dryness. (See the extensive compilation of studies, below.)
Our clients have noted numerous positive changes in their level of vitality as well as a more youthful appearance with regular Colvita supplementation. Here are many more ways Colvita can improve your health:
Stimulates collagen rebuilding in the body
Regenerates structure of the skin, connective tissue, cartilage tissue, bone tissue, collagen structure of the liver, heart, eyeballs, joints, hair, and nails
Slows the aging processes of the skin and all tissue in the body
Improves the functioning of internal organs like liver, kidneys, ovaries, heart, and stomach
Recommended for active people, metabolising protein during physical work, training to build up muscle mass, during rehabilitation after mechanical injury of limbs and joints.
Improves bone density (Read about Jacqui D's transformative experience here.)
Research Studies
Boosts Muscle Mass
Between 1–10% of muscle tissue is composed of collagen. This protein is necessary to keep your muscles strong and functioning properly (Source).
Studies suggest that collagen supplements help boost muscle mass in people with sarcopenia, the loss of muscle mass that happens with age (Source).
In one study, 27 frail men took 15 grams of collagen while participating in an exercise program daily for 12 weeks. Compared to men who exercised but did not take collagen, they gained significantly more muscle mass and strength (Source).
Researchers have suggested that taking collagen may promote the synthesis of muscle proteins such as creatine and may also stimulate muscle growth after exercise (Source).
Prevent Bone Loss
Your bones are made mostly of collagen, which gives them structure and helps keep them strong (Source).
As collagen in your body deteriorates as you age, bone mass does as well. This may lead to conditions such as osteoporosis, which is characterized by low bone density and linked with a higher risk of bone fractures (Source, Source).
Studies have shown that taking collagen supplements may have certain effects in the body that help inhibit the bone breakdown that leads to osteoporosis ( Source).
In one study, women took either a calcium supplement combined with 5 grams of collagen or a calcium supplement and no collagen daily for 12 months. By the end of the study, the women taking the calcium and collagen supplement had significantly lower blood levels of proteins that promote bone breakdown than those taking only the calcium (Source).
Another study found similar results in 66 women who took 5 grams of collagen daily for 12 months.
Women who took the collagen had an increase of up to 7% in their bone mineral density (BMD), compared to women who did not consume collagen (Source). BMD is a measure of the amount of minerals, such as calcium, in your bones. Low BMD is associated with weak bones and the development of osteoporosis (Source)
Hair and nails: Taking collagen may increase the strength of nails by preventing brittleness. Additionally, it may stimulate your hair and nails to grow longer ( Source).
Skin Improvements: Oral Intake of Specific Bioactive Collagen Peptides Reduces Skin Wrinkles and Increases Dermal Matrix Synthesis (Source, Source)
Helps Relieve Joint Pain
Collagen helps maintain the integrity of your cartilage, which is the rubber-like tissue that protects your joints. As the amount of collagen in your body decreases as you get older, your risk of developing degenerative joint disorders such as osteoarthritis increases (Source).
Some studies have shown that taking collagen supplements may help improve symptoms of osteoarthritis and reduce joint pain overall (Source, Source.).
In one study, 73 athletes who consumed 10 grams of collagen daily for 24 weeks experienced a significant decrease in joint pain while walking and at rest, compared to a group that did not take it (Source).
In another study, adults took two grams of collagen daily for 70 days. Those who took collagen had a significant reduction in joint pain and were better able to engage in physical activity than those who did not take it ( Source).
Collagen may accumulate in cartilage and stimulate tissues to make collagen, and may lead to lower inflammation, better support of the joints and reduced pain (Source).
